Colombian double bass player Santiago Acevedo presents his most recent album, recorded with the support of a deluxe sextet. With a strong jazz tradition and exploring the avant-garde of the Afro-Caribbean rhythms, “Raices” comes to life in 2015. It’s an album where musical cohabitation takes place. With simple structures, a strong rhythm appeal and a great sensitivity for weaving emotions, this sextet brings together under the same roof heavy hitters and young talents, obliterating on stage the boundary that separate Jazz and Latin music, tradition and modernity. With exceptional guests, Santiago recovers in his compositions the sonority of instruments such as the Venezuelan cuatro, the Cuban tres, the fender rhodes and the Afro-Antillean percussion, without a doubt one of the strengths of his talent.
